Annual National MS Tour to Tanglewood

Adam participated in the bike tour again this weekend. This is his third year riding! His mom has multiple sclerosis, and my mom works at the national MS society. Unfortunately, the rest of his family were slackers this year, so he road all by his lonesome. Jason actually did sign up, but with the rainy weather predicted on Saturday, he chickened out and stayed in Charlotte.

The weather did actually affect the weekend. Saturday's ride from Volvo Trucks to Tanglewood Park was cancelled. However, they still had festivities at Tanglewood from noon to 4 p.m. It was a gorgeous day by then. We ventured over around 1 p.m. and had some yummy food sponsored by Carabba's. Adam designed a jersey in honor of his mom. It says "Team Mumra" on the back. For those of you who aren't familiar, Mumra is an evil guy from the Thundercats. It kind of sounds like mom, and Adam and his brothers have been calling her that for a while now. Don't worry, they don't think she's evil...they just like the name. Anywho, Adam was going to participate in a jersey runway show, but it was taking too long to get to that point...and it was hot, really hot. We left a little over an hour after we arrived. At least I was able to see some of my mom's coworkers before we left, which was one of the main reasons I wanted to go. They hadn't seen me since I've been pregnant, and all they've heard from my mom was how excited she is. So it was really good to see them!

Sunday's ride wasn't cancelled. However, instead of leaving from Tanglewood Park and riding back to Volvo Truck, they started at Volvo and road a loop (there were three to choose from.) Adam road the 47-mile loop, and it practically wiped him out. He made it, though. I'm very proud of my boy!

One Hot Saturday at Tanglewood

Crossing the finish line!

Yay, he made it!
